General Safety Advice for NDSS Symposium Attendees

  • In the event of an emergency at the conference venue, stay calm and follow the instructions of hotel/conference staff.
  • Keep your passport and visa documentation, including your letter of invitation, with you at all times.
  • Make and keep a copy of those documents.
  • Whether at the venue or elsewhere, avoid any instances/areas of public disturbance.
  • Make a note of the contact details for your nearest consulate (NB for EU citizens, this can be the consulate of any EU member state).
  • Review advice such as that provided by the ACLU.
  • Optionally, “buddy up” with another NDSS Symposium attendee who can notify staff if you are unexpectedly absent.
  • If you have a safety concern at any time during the NDSS Symposium, please speak to hotel staff or one of the NDSS organizers.
